All For One
Beautiful Thing

John Squire continues painting on his farm in Macclesfield

From Uncut Magazine 13 May 2016, Mani interview:

How often do you see John Squire? “I spoke to John last week. I last saw him about a month ago. I go up to his farm in Macclesfield, because like I say, I’m godparent to his kids. We phone up, and in his usual way we have a good laugh. A lot of people have John down as being very quiet and insular, but I know how to tickle him. He’s a great kid.” What’s John up to musically? “Erm… painting.”

Apparently the lyrics to this song appeared on Twitter but the actual song has never surfaced. Unconfirmed if Ian Brown solo or if the lyrics were intended for the Roses.

25 February 2016 - The Church Studio Sessions, Crouch End, North LondonnNME interview Larry Bartleet

Have you heard from the Stone Roses how they're prepping?

"Not directly, no, but I know that they've been in the studio and everything, I think they keep things quite close to their chest, but it's all exciting."

March 2016 - The Church Studio Sessions, Crouch End, North London
Apparently the band had at least five rehearsal and recording sessions. There was an E.P. worth of material recorded but only the two tracks were released. The unconfirmed track titles are taken from unconfirmed sources.

From 01 March 1995 -'The Face Magazine' Issue 78, March 95: What about the next album then?

Mani: It’ll be soon and it won’t sound like this one at all It’ll be dub, funk, fuckin’ jazz music…

Ian: We’ll do a funk LP next, something completely different for 1996. And a live LP too before that.

John: A funk LP? I don’t intend making a funk record, personally. I’ve got another album almost written, I made a list of songs up yesterday actually.

Reni: Look, if the next one takes as long, I’ll have my solo LP out first.

From 24 March 2016, 11:19 - Radiox Website:...

Reni was caught outside Paul Epworth's studios in North London this week. The rumours surrounding The Stone Roses recording a third album have reignited this week, after the band and their gear was seen leaving Paul Epworth's famous The Church Studios in Crouch End. Despite both Mani and John Squire allegedly telling a fan they were just rehearsing, drummer Reni may have just given the game away.

According to NME when asked about the rumours, the 51-year-old said: "I'm recording," before adding: "I can't tell you anything because I'll get my arse kicked".

March 2016 - The Church Studio Sessions, Crouch End, North London All For One / Beautiful Thing

The Stone Roses recording in the studio with Paul Epworth (Primal Scream, Adele, Florence and the Machine, Paul McCartney). Paul Epworth's Church Studios were also used for rehearsal sessions during the reunion.

From 20 May 2016 NME Magazine:...2016 - at his plush north London studios The Church in late March. It was here that NME collared an upbeat Ian Brown, who told us the sessions were going ''like a dream''.

Ian Brown said ''We'll just keep writing and if it's our standard, we'll go.'' he said, adding 'We'll ride it until the wheels fall off, like we did last time...'.

Chris Coghill (Friend of Mani and actor who starred in 2012 Stone Roses' related film Spike Island) said: ...They'd been at the studio in Crouch End for the last few weeks so I knew they were recording, but I was still sat there like a schoolkid listening to the radio.

I spoke to Ian about it after the Finsbury Park gig (in 2013) - I asked him what the new material was sounding like. He said 'Fucking Top.'.

March 2016 - The Church Studio Sessions, Crouch End, North London
All For One (Prodigy Remix) / All For One (Unplugged) / All For One (Funk Master Flex’s Super Scratch Mix) / Beautiful Thing (Monitor Mix)

Apparently several mixes were made during the sessions but none have been released or leaked.

From 20 May 2016 NME Magazine: Dave Haslam (ex-Hacienda DJ) said: There was studio time booked a while ago but it wasn't used, and even though the band had always wanted to record new material, the timing was never quite right - they've all got busy lives. So the album was always going to come later rather than sooner. There's long been a creative tension between Ian and John...

Simon Wolstencroft said: “I know that in the gap since the last gigs [in 20l3] he’s been very frustrated at not being in the studio and not playing because he really loves it. He didn't want it to stop. The last time I spoke to him he was telling me they'd just gotten back together again for the gigs this summer and he sounded really happy. But I still told him, ‘Don’t worry, Ian. If it goes wrong, you’ve always got your own songs.’ He could have another massive tune again tomorrow if he wanted. I know he could.”

Have you heard from the Stone Roses how they're prepping?

"Not directly, no, but I know that they've been in the studio and everything, I think they keep things quite close to their chest, but it's all exciting." How did you book them? "They've always been strong in Scotland, they've headlined here once before and we had them play Glasgow Green which sold out in 30 minutes for 50,000 tickets, so when I heard that they were gonna do a handful of dates this year, and that they were gonna do shows at Man City and they'd consider doing a Scottish show, immediately I'm like, 'we definitely want them'.

They were the first band we announced. "It's great to have them as the first name on the team sheet really. They were one of the first bands I booked as a concert promoter, I put them on at Middlesex Poly in London and they were fantastic at that gig, there were about 150 people there and Bob Stanley came along to review it and said, 'This band are the future of the music industry in Britain' – or words to that effect – and then the band exploded just after that. The rest is history. I just love them."

Fans who bought a limited edition 12-inch version of the track could get their £6.99 back after Universal Records admitted descriptions of the item had been “misleading.”

Universal advertised the one-track vinyl single as being limited to 5000 copies, but later admitted 6000 copies were actually pressed.
