When I first heard the Stone Roses it was on ZROCK. It was about 2 years ago and I was sitting at my desk drawing. I heard "Love Spreads" and noticed that the guitars were extremely unique and had one of the best melodies I have ever heard. From then on I was a true Stone Roses fan.
About a month after I heard the single, I bought the CD, Second Coming. I loved it. I listened to it every day for about 2 years and havent stopped. You might think that is a little extreme but I do not think so. It's funny... I never get sick of their music. Because everytime I listen to them I "catch" something new that they were saying, or pointing out. Or maybe I discover a sudden twist in Mani's bass at one part of the song.
Here in the States they never really caught on because no one really knew that these guys were good. We were all caught up with dance music and punk rock, not good rock and roll which the Stone Roses are. Another reason they are my favorite is because I believe that John Squire is a little bit like me. I only wish I could meet him and see what hes really like. Ive only seen photos of him over the internet and in my CD's, but if I were dieing and wanted to meet ONE person itd be John Squire.
The Stone Roses mean something else to everyone. And i'm here to share my view of what I thought was so cool about them. They are more than just a rock band.
