My first concert at Whitley Bay. The venue - the Ice Rink was a great size to watch a band - not too large giving plenty of atmosphere.I was disappointed that there was no support band, having heard about Black Grape at Sheffield etc. and so folk were waiting for something that didn't happen and no one made any announcement.

However when the Stone Roses came on it made up for any previous disappointments. I was impressed at how tight the band was. Good driving from the bass and drums - the latter being particularly strong. John Squire was pretty damned good and for an old rocker like me (I am over 40!) it was very reminiscent of great bands of my youth.

Ian Brown performed with a coolness but driving some good vocals. All titles were good - but I was a bit disappointed with the 'one song encore', a bit thin for the fans I thought.

Still a great night out and would definitely go and see them again even though my legs ached the following day from moshing!
