Overview
“Begging You” was released as a single on 30 October 1995, serving as the third (and final) single from the Second Coming album. It reached no_15 on the UK Singles Chart.
12″ Single (Commercial)
The main commercial 12″ release of “Begging You” was issued on 12-inch vinyl by Geffen Records with the catalogue GEFST 22060.
Typical tracklist on the 12″:
A1. Begging You (album version) – 4:52
A2. Begging You (Chic mix) – 5:32
B1. Begging You (Cox’s Ultimatum mix) – 6:33
B2. Begging You (Stone Corporation Vox) – 6:24(This was often supplied with a colour printed sleeve.)
This 12″ is essentially a remix single — all versions are of Begging You, with no additional songs by the Roses as B-sides. The mixes offer different club-oriented takes on the track alongside the standard album cut.
👉 There were also promotional 12″ variants distributed in the UK (e.g., with a “Young American Primitive remix” replacing one of the mixes), mostly aimed at DJs and radio.
7″ Single
There wasn’t a regular commercial UK 7″ release of “Begging You” in the same way as many earlier Stone Roses singles (e.g., She Bangs the Drums or Fools Gold). Most collectors and discographies list only the 12″ commercial single, CD single, and cassette formats for this release.
Some promo or DJ 7″ copies may have existed in very limited runs or markets (often issued to radio stations), but they weren’t widely sold commercially and didn’t have a standard B-side format like a traditional 7″.
Other Formats (Context)
For completeness (though not directly asked), here’s how the single appeared in other formats around the same time:
Cassette Single (GFSC 22060):Typically included the album version and the Chic mix of Begging You.
CD Single (GEFSTD 22060):Featured the album version plus additional remixes such as the Lakota mix, Stone Corporation Vox, Chic mix and Young American Primitive remix.
Australian Tour Edition CD:Added a radio edit version along with several of the remixes.
