No support for climbing Roses

The Stone Roses have turned down two major support slots In the last two months to concentrate on building their own.career

The Manchester group were offered lucrative special guest spots with NEW ORDER in America and the PIXIES in Britain in favour of headlining shows at smaller venues like the ICA and Dingwalls in London and the Intertrotional in their home lower

They've never supported anyone in their life and see no reason why they should start new," said a spokesman for the band "other groups would have Jumped at something like this, but The Stone Roses have their own thing and to do and don't want to be anybody's second fiddle.

The band, whose all-tied debut album crashes into the national charts at 12, have been forced to cancel forthcoming shows in Milton Keynes anand St Helens because of recording commitments.

However, there are headlining shows (naturally) al Preston Guild hall Foyer, Walsall Junction, Newcastle Majestic, Leicester University and Lancaster Sugarhouse.
