Roses switch off Terry

THE STONE ROSES have snubbed the BBC again by refusing to appear on its flagship chat show WOGAN.

The band had been pencilled in "some months ago" to appear on the programme, but they cancelled when they discovered that Tel wouldn't be interviewing them.

The Roses were meant to be performing their single 'One Love' on this Wednesday's edition of the show. But a spokesman for the band confirmed: "They were booked to do it but blew it out because Terry wouldn't be chatting to them on the show."

It's The Roses' second run-in with the BBC. They previously came into conflict with the Beeb when their appearance on The Late Showfell apart after just 45 seconds, when a PA packed up during a live version of 'Made Of Stone'.

Then lan Brown taunted engineers on the programme with an on-screen chant of @mateurs...amateurs", while presenter Tracey MacLeod attempted to cover up the power failure.

Meanwhile The Stone Roses' battle for the Number One slot ended disappointingly with their much-delayed 'One Love' single entering the national charts at Number Four on Sunday.

The single, already on Radio 1's A playlist, had been battling it out valiantly with Elton John's 'Sacrifice' single during the week but apparently lost ground during the crucial weekend sales race.
